To build off those first tips and help your business maximize the benefits of Public Relations, the Axel PR experts are back with another set of tips, tricks, and ideas…
PR Pro Tips to Boost Your Business
Pro Tip 1: Don’t sound like you’re marketing. When it comes to organic coverage, be it through traditional media or social media, most people are hard-wired to filter out any content that sounds like outright advertising. That’s why it is essential to find a tone for your content that communicates authenticity. It is also important to show how your PR efforts tie-in to larger narratives that matter more to people. Most people will not necessarily care about news relating to a business, so it’s key to connect your story to a bigger picture that relates to a larger audience.
Pro Tip 2: Be active and visible in the community. Being a regular presence in your local business community is an excellent way to build your company’s public profile. A great starting point is joining your local chamber of commerce and attending local networking gatherings. In addition to increasing your name recognition, people will also develop a more positive impression, especially if you sponsor community events as well.
Pro Tip 3: Hold events. You don’t have to limit yourself to only participating in events held by other groups. The best kind of events your business can host are events that have a usefulness to the public. One example is a series of panel discussions around topics that your business has unique insight on. These events should each be well-organized and set up to be as informative, useful, and interesting to the public as possible. While planning your events, it is also essential to remember we are in the 21st century: include an online component! Of course, the easiest way to do this is to livestream your event on social media, such as Facebook or YouTube. As a bonus, be sure to then post the video footage on your website and social media so that it can continue to attract relevant audiences after the event has ended!
Pro Tip 4: And lastly, Be unique! We always recommend keeping an eye on the competition and see what’s working for them and what’s not. However, at the end of the day, the most important thing is not to copy others, but to have your own distinct public identity. Ways to craft a unique public image can include drawing inspiration from you background and history, using (appropriate) humor, and showcasing the human face of your business by highlighting stories tied to your company, like spotlights on clients and employees.
